Should I study at Carlingford Library for my HSC?

Every year thousands of students spend hours and hours holed up and hibernating in libraries across NSW studying for their HSC. Whilst libraries are a fantastic place for students to study, we are all probably aware some are better than others!

Serious hard-core study requires the right environment – you want to avoid the crowds, the noisy kids running around, find a comfy lounge and be free from distractions just to name a few requirements – essentially you need to choose the right location and the right library for study success!

Library Review

FeatureReview
Facilities?*Free WiFi
*Public access computers
Specific services for HSC students?None
Pros?*It’s well situated for some people, being only a 3 minute walk to the train station and buses.
*There is also of plenty of books to relax with if the student needs a break.
Cons?*The library is extremely noisy, due to children running around constantly. Coupled with that is the fact that it is right next to a child centre, making it difficult to keep the noise levels low. This can make it hard to study.
*Another problem is that its a very small library, and as such can be a bit cramped when it gets a bit busy. Surprisingly, quite a few students enjoy coming to this library, but only seem to do so, to chill out. Staff can get very unfriendly because of this and the amount of children.
Best place in the library to study?*In all honesty we would suggest outside the library, as you do not hear the children being loud inside. Can be distracting to those who don't listen to music while studying.
*If a person does want to study inside, there are smaller, more secluded areas to the side of the library.
Overall rating?3/10

Our top tip:Β If you study at Carlingford Library, (which you shouldn’t), you will have to deal with a bunch of small children running around and being loud.
